Lazy Sunday afternoon
We had a beautiful early summer weekend, sunny with highs around 80F, very nice after another week of rain. Here we are Saturday afternoon on the front porch reading, opening a new lego set, and sorting through a million Baby Shower gifts! I think the front porch will become one of our new favorite afternoon spots, when the summer heat and afternoon sun drive us off the deck.

Our culture has forgotten how to live on the front porch! That used to be the way to do it--everyone out on their front porches on hot summer evenings waving to friends and neighbors as they pass by. In so many parts of N.A. life is now lived totally in the privacy of our back yards. That's why Dad has had this dream of a front yard patio here. And Saturday he got it all finished! A simple circle of bricks that will one day hold a couple of adirondack chairs and a small table for drinks or whatever. He sat out there for a while and said that it gave him a whole different perspective on the world...or something like that...He can correct me with another comment on your blog! Mom
