Launch aborted

A dramatic last second launch abort of an Ariane V rocket with one of our satellites ("New Dawn") on board occurred today. Despite the disappointment of a launch abort, the good news is the satellite is okay and the rocket detected the problem while it was still able to perform an orderly shut down.

Thanks for sending that video. It was interesting (and impressive) to see how the system can check itself to make sure everything is ready before taking off. An abort like that is probably only a short set-back time-wise, right?
